Contract

- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts, nights
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- At least 2 years of CVICU experience
- Must be able to interpret strips
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Must be able to take a full team
- Negative drug screen for all panels
Preferred
- ACLS
- CCRN
- Prior ICU travel assignments
- Experience with immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant patients
Unit Details
- CVICU with 20 private, monitored beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
- Float scope includes every level of care
- Charge nurses and a house supervisor are available 24/7
- Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
- Monitor techs are available
- Patients are connected to Philips monitoring
- Common patient population includes post open heart surgical patients, CABG, valves, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, post cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, unstable N-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, cardiac-related ICU patients, ventilated patients, and overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients
- Common equipment and therapies include IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT, ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
- Common lines include PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
- Travelers are expected to work with PCT support and take a full team
- Shifts are 7a-7p or 7p-7a
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No call or standby
- Scrubs must be appropriate; no specific color is required
- Unit-specific orientation is 1 day plus 2 days with a preceptor
