Registered Nurse - Inpatient Rehabilitation

Job Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. The facility is a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in care for patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring intensive rehabilitative services. The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high acuity patients.

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: 12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend and holiday rotations
• Call Requirements: Yes
• Breaks: Two 15-minute paid breaks and one mandatory 30-minute unpaid break per 12-hour shift
• Float: No current float requirements, but may be required to float to a nearby satellite inpatient rehab facility in the future

Patient Population & Unit Info

• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 7 patients
• Patient Population: Adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation with high acuity needs
• Equipment: Mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and EPIC electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in rehabilitation, including experience within the last year
• Experience in a rehabilitation setting
• Med-Surg nursing experience
• Minimum 13 weeks of experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Information

• Nurses are expected to assist with patient care beyond typical RN duties, including helping CNAs and responding to call lights for patient safety
• Strict adherence to attendance and tardy policies
• Staff must clock out for breaks and cannot stay past shift end time without approval
