Job Summary
Provide nursing care in orthopedic surgery, post-operative, and medical/surgical units within a Level III Trauma Center. The unit serves geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients (13 years and older) with a focus on post-operative joint care, bariatric surgery recovery, gastrointestinal postoperative care, and trauma patients.
Unit Information
- Unit: Orthopedic Surgery / Post Operative / Med-Surg
- Number of Beds: 23
- Patient Ratios: 4-6 patients per nurse
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Meditech
- Shift: See shift details (36 guaranteed weekly hours)
- Weekend Hours: As needed, approximately every third weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Must be willing to float as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Orthopedic Surgery, with experience within the last year
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required prior to start
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
Skills and Attributes
- Highly motivated with strong teamwork and customer service skills
- Good assessment skills preferred
- Hardworking, kind, compassionate, and willing to ask questions when in doubt
Patient Population
- Geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients (13 years and older)

- Post-operative joint care
- Post-op bariatric surgery
- Postoperative gastrointestinal care
- Trauma patients
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
- Must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as a travel nurse
- Tennessee Abuse Registry check required prior to assignment start
- Dress code: Any scrub color allowed; T-shirts must not display hospital logos; acrylic nails are not permitted
