Location: Reno, Nevada

Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licenses & Certifications

  • Nevada RN license required prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam (identifying and measuring telemetry rhythm strips)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years recent Med Surg / Tele experience (highest required)
  • Prior travel experience: Not specified / not required

Unit Description

  • 29-bed unit staffed with RNs and CNA/CCTs
  • Staffing ratio: 1:4-6
  • Ancillary staff includes Rapid Response Team, phlebotomists, EKG technicians, Respiratory Therapists, Physical and Occupational Therapists
  • Patient population: combination of telemetry and medical status patients
  • Common diagnoses: COPD, sepsis, COVID and other respiratory illnesses, alcohol withdrawal, diabetes, GI bleed, etc.
  • Telemetry patients monitored remotely by CCT

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide optimal patient care using nursing process
  • Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients including families/caregivers
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
  • Must demonstrate cognitive and psychosocial understanding specific to patient population
  • Provide care with intensive continuous mental effort and sound clinical judgment

Additional Information

  • Travelers may be required to float within competency level
  • May work major holidays and must pick up one additional shift every 4-week schedule period
  • Employer may call off shifts with 48 hours notice for low census during 13-week contract
  • Schedule may include weekends and holidays
