Registered Nurse - ER

Location: Duarte, California Unit: Evaluation and Treatment Center (ETC) Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Night shift (3x12 hours), 19:00-07:30, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Role Overview

The RN provides timely assessment and treatment for patients with urgent medical concerns related to cancer care or other health conditions. The ETC addresses acute symptoms that need prompt attention but may not require an Emergency Department visit.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Emergency Department experience (2 years)
Emergency Department experience within the last year
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
Experience working with adult patients
Experience working with spinal cord injury patients
Blood product administration
Central line care and management
IV insulin protocols
IV vasopressors
Conscious or moderate sedation administration and monitoring
Assisting with and managing intubation
Chest tube insertion and management

Background and Compliance

Background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived, worked, or in school over the past 7 years, updated annually (includes SSN trace, county and nationwide criminal searches, national sex offender search, and education verification)
EPLS/GSA/SAM check and HHS/OIG check
Education verification required; medical assistants must provide a diploma (transcripts accepted if diploma is unavailable)
Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
Competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency exam, as applicable to profession and specialty
Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
Facility job description acknowledgement and EHS information form
Passport-style badge photo with solid background (exempt at certain facilities)
Badge provided by the staffing agency

Health and Immunization Requirements

Physical exam with physician statement within the last 12 months
TB: 2-step PPD (one within 8 weeks of start and one within 12 months of start), or QuantiFERON/TSPOT in lieu of 2 PPDs. Candidates with a past positive TB result need a chest X-ray within the last 3 months, plus a TB questionnaire, which is required for all candidates and updated annually.
Tdap within 10 years, or a declination form
Measles, mumps, and rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
Hepatitis B: series or positive titer; declination only with proof of non-immunity
Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if declined, facility restrictions on patient assignments apply
COVID declination form required if no booster was given on or after September 2023
Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption for the 2026-27 flu season (exemptions are time-sensitive and require facility approval)
10-panel oral drug screen (THC required) within 1 year of start
Respirator fit test within 12 months of start (any N95 accepted); RespSafety clearance required annually
