Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Outpatient Clinic Cardiology RN)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cardiology)
  • Shift:
    • Monday–Thursday: 4x8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with 1-hour lunch)
    • Friday: 1x4 hour shift (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
    • Total: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: No
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities required

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 5 years (highest stated requirement between 2-5 years)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (first-time travelers NOT accepted)
  • Licenses:
    • South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
  • Preferred: Cardiology experience highly preferred

Important Seasonal Note

  • Hurricane Season: June through November (peak in August and September)
  • During hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should avoid confirming new or extension assignments during this period if this is a concern.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Work Eligibility: Completed and accurate I-9 form required
  • Identification: Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, State Specific Search
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required

Certifications & Competencies

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for pediatric units only
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required except for ER RNs
    • NIH Stroke Certification - Required for ER
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA/AAP only
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC acceptable
  • Competency Exams: Required as applicable (including medication/pharmacology competency)
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Vaccinations & Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
    • COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be needed for low titers
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for all patient-facing travelers

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start (estimated 4-6 hours for this location)
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
  • Facility Job Description: Must be signed prior to start
  • First Day Instructions: Provided after clearance; adherence required
  • Fit Mask Testing: Conducted onsite during orientation (shaving/trimming facial hair required if applicable)

Additional Notes

  • Radiation badge may be required depending on unit (not typical for this outpatient cardiology role)
  • Local candidates accepted but at a reduced rate
  • All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at start (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
