Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Utica, New York

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), 5th Floor
- Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1 depending on acuity; may be 5:1 if acuity is low
- Required Skills/Experience:
- New York RN License
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (higher value confirmed)
- Drip experience including:
- Neo up to 100
- Precedex
- Insulin at IMCU level of care
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Epic electronic health record experience (required)
- Return to Office (RTO) expectation: 7 days or less, with only 1 holiday allowed
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (AHA strongly preferred; ARC accepted initially but must update to AHA)
- ACLS (AHA strongly preferred; ARC accepted initially but must update to AHA)
- NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state required, annual)
- Competency Exams including:
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet Angoff score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
- Other certifications as applicable (e.g., PALS, TNCC) may be required depending on assignment
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccine, or documented chickenpox history)
- Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
- Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination (required)
Documentation & Onboarding
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form (required prior to start)
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year SS Trace and County searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
- HHS/OIG (annual)
- Education Verification
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings)
- Job Description acknowledgment
- Welcome Packet acknowledgment
- Omnicell Form (for nursing staff)
