Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Unit: IMC/General Onsite Telemetry
  • Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 shifts; 18:45 - 07:15)
  • Average Daily Census: 38 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, will float to like units as needed
  • Block Schedule: Flexible, discuss with manager
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • License Requirement: Must have an active Illinois nursing license (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty

    • Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization
    • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery
    • Sheath Removal
    • TR Band management
  • Gastrointestinal Care:

    • Feeding tube care and management
  • Genitourinary/Renal Care:

    • Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
    • Renal failure care
  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:

    • Accessing ports
    • Arterial line management
    • Blood product administration
    • Central line and peripheral line care/management
    • PICC line management
    • Starting IVs
  • Medication Management:

    • Heparin protocols
    • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (with and without titration)
    • PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)
    • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Neurological/Psychiatric Care:

    • Care for CVA (stroke) patients
    • Experience with surgical drains
  • Respiratory Care:

    • Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
    • External CPAP/BIPAP
    • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
    • Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
    • Non-invasive airway management
  • Professional Skills:

    • Isolation precautions
    • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Preferred Experience:

    • Previous charge nurse experience
    • Cerner electronic health record system experience (required)
    • Teaching hospital experience
    • Level I trauma center experience

  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo required before start
