Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)
- Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in specialty
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Primarily one shift (day or night); no shift preference allowed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; flexibility required
- Holidays: Required to work holidays as scheduled; no holiday shift requests allowed
- Return to Office (RTO): Limited; no more than 3 consecutive days and max 7 days total during the 13-week contract
- Locals: Candidates residing in Guam are not eligible
- Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours with possible cancellation of up to 3 shifts during assignment
- Travel: Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should budget for round-trip airfare
- Additional: Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations

Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider card required (Instructor cards not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross preferred
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider card required (Instructor cards not accepted)
- Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for ER; must be fully completed before start date
- Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab) - Online course required; fee not covered by facility
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Triage Training - Required prior to start for ER
- Facility-specific modules including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- FEMA modules (completed onsite)
Testing and Competencies
- Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams administered onsite during orientation
- Pen and paper format, must be completed in person
- 10 questions each, 80% passing score required
- Two attempts allowed with remediation discussion after first attempt
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RNs
- Competency exams as applicable by profession
Health and Background Requirements
- Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start; includes nationwide and international searches if applicable
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start (facility does not require but Aya does)
- Fit Mask Test: Must be completed within 1 year prior to start; specific mask types required; onsite fit testing available
- Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity or vaccination required
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer or vaccine series required
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination required
- Flu Vaccine: Mandatory during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility form
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable
Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Current US Passport (Canadian passports not accepted)
- Emergency Contact Form
- Work History Verification: Last 10 years required; attestations acceptable if verification unavailable
- Professional References: 2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care
- Skills Checklist: Required annually
- Facility-specific documents and training certificates must be completed and uploaded by compliance deadlines
Additional Notes
- Candidates should plan to arrive in Guam by Thursday before the start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
- Travelers cannot request shift preferences or holiday schedules
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed
- Travelers must be flexible to support unit needs, including block scheduling if required
