Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Somerville, New Jersey

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM
• On-call schedule:

  • Every 4 weeks for 2x12 hour shifts on Saturday-Sunday
  • 1 call shift and 1 backup
  • 2x8 hour weeknight call shifts Monday-Friday
• Holiday Requirement: One 12-hour call if holiday falls during contract
• Schedule accommodations must be approved before signing
• First-time travelers accepted
• Experience supporting new EGS surgeons for general, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries
• Experience with General, GYN, Urology, Orthopedics (including joints), Neuro and Spine, Vascular, Bariatrics, VATS, ENT, Robotics is a plus
• EPIC charging system experience preferred
• Scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid New Jersey RN license
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for adult critical care, ED, and related units
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM) — confirm with program coordinator if applicable
• Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in specialty (Operating Room)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen)
• Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions list (New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List) within 30 days of start
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
• References: 2 references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blind testing (if applicable)
• Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements
• Respirator medical clearance and fit testing if job tasks require (e.g., wearing gloves, respirator use)
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
• Vendor medical clearance form if history of positive TB
• Iron Temple Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not applicable for this OR role unless specified)
