Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Endoscopy)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year
  • Licensure: NC or Compact nursing license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Flu vaccine required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
    • Local candidates within 75 miles are acceptable
    • First-time travelers are welcome

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks:
    • Must be completed within 90 days of start
    • Includes SSN trace, counties lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, sex offender, international searches (if applicable), education verification (for certain specialties)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap every 10 years
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (boosters required if low/equivocal)
    • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Flu seasonal vaccination for 2025-26 season (mandatory for new candidates starting Oct-Mar)
    • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
  • References:
    • Two professional references required from employment within 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
  • Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific training are required.
  • Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training provided during orientation for applicable units.
  • Skills checklist and other competency documentation must be updated annually.
