Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• No prior travel experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended (check unit specifics)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) – verify based on assignment

Orientation & Training

• General orientation begins on Sundays (includes 16 hours of non-billable orientation)
• Online compliance training required before start
• Participation in nursing student support and clinical education expected alongside clinical duties

Additional Requirements

• Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
• Background checks required within 30 days of start (covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
• Education verification required
• Various health documents and immunizations required, including:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug screening within 14 days of start
  • Immunizations: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Flu vaccine or approved exemption
  • TB screening or chest X-ray as applicable
• Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing required onsite
• Compliance with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Work Environment

• May be required to pick up additional shifts as overtime
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Expected to actively participate in clinical education for nursing students
