Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
- Location: Bristol, Tennessee
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Schedule: 36/36 (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Work Days: Every other weekend and rotating holidays
- Call: No call required
- Floating: Floating to other units required
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing
- Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- No prior travel experience required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended (check unit specifics)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) – verify based on assignment
Orientation & Training
- General orientation begins on Sundays (includes 16 hours of non-billable orientation)
- Online compliance training required before start
- Participation in nursing student support and clinical education expected alongside clinical duties
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
- Background checks required within 30 days of start (covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
- Education verification required
- Various health documents and immunizations required, including:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug screening within 14 days of start
- Immunizations: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Flu vaccine or approved exemption
- TB screening or chest X-ray as applicable
- Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing required onsite
- Compliance with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Work Environment
- May be required to pick up additional shifts as overtime
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Expected to actively participate in clinical education for nursing students
