Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Alton, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Facility Type: Skilled Nursing and Rehab Units in a Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility
• Patient Population: Up to 20 residents per shift, average daily census of 72
• Unit Focus: Skilled Nursing and Rehab with a Med-Surg approach
• Shift: Every other weekend rotation required upon request
• Attire: Any shade of blue scrubs
• Charting System: PowerChart
• Parking: Free

Requirements

• License: Must have Illinois RN license in hand to submit; proof of license required
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience (higher value confirmed)
• Certifications:

  • IV Certification required before starting
  • BLS and ACLS required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend rotation required upon request
• On-Call: Not required
• Special Skills:

  • Rehab experience with strong Med-Surg and acute care helpful but not mandatory
  • Dementia training/experience highly recommended
  • Excellent customer service skills essential
  • Experience working closely with CNAs/HCAs
  • Familiarity with special equipment such as lifting equipment

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required
• Professional license primary source verification required
• Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exam required
• Physical exam within one year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine record or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with specific guidelines)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
  • Hepatitis B declination accepted
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant tests accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless medical/religious exemption granted (with testing requirements for exemptions)
• Two professional references within 2 years required
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

• Must provide ample notice (more than 24 hours) for any call-outs
• Rehab work includes specialized medical and rehabilitation care for dementia and surgical patients, including IV medications and wound care
• Locals accepted for this position
• No floating between units required
• No mileage reimbursement

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working in a skilled nursing and rehab setting with a med-surg focus, and who hold required certifications including IV certification. Prior travel experience is not mandatory, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses.
