Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown Unit

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Stepdown
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
• Patient Ratios: 1:3
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years (higher end of 1-2 years stated)
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Candidates: Not accepted within 60-mile radius
• On-call Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Float Requirements: May float within scope to med tele, med surg, and rehab units as needed
• Charge Nurse Duties: May be scheduled if possible
• Isolation Patients: Must be comfortable caring for isolation patients, including COVID-19
• Experience with Drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Dobutamine
• Special Procedures/Equipment Experience: Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, BiPAP, Airvo

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Missouri or Compact RN license required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • BLS (AHA only)
• Preferred/Additional Certifications:

  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for Stepdown)
  • TNCC preferred but not required
  • PALS preferred but not required for this unit

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, including social security trace, county searches, nationwide search, sex offender, education verification
• E-Verify, EPLS/SAM, and OIG checks within 90 days of start
• Education verification and primary source license verification
• Drug screening (7-panel) within 45 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual TB questionnaire required)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted with form)
  • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer (boosters or declination if low/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B - titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (boosters or declination if low/equivocal)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
• Annual core competency exams and pharmacology competency exam required
• HIPAA and confidentiality statements must be signed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Must comply with facility COVID-19 policies, including mask-wearing and weekly testing if granted vaccine exemption
• Modules and facility-specific orientation completed during onboarding
• Passport-style photo required for badge prior to start date

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in stepdown or similar acute care settings, comfortable with complex drips and procedures, and willing to work night shifts on a travel contract.
