Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Units: Primarily PCU preferred; MS RN considered
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Floating: Required to float to different units within the organization as needed

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PCU or Med-Surg nursing experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Licenses

• BCLS (Basic Life Support) required
• EPIC experience required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
• Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification)

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program required
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
• Various facility-specific compliance forms and training (e.g., Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training, Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)

References & Documentation

• Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
• Employment application and skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required training and documentation prior to start
• Floating to different units may require flexibility and adaptability

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with PCU or Med-Surg backgrounds who are comfortable working rotating shifts and floating across units in a fast-paced hospital environment.
