Registered Nurse (RN) - OR Travel/Contract Position
Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-timers Accepted: Yes, but must have experience at a Level I facility
- Clinical Experience Required:
- General surgery
- Trauma surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Cardiovascular surgery
- Facility Experience: Must have experience in Level 1 OR Trauma centers (non-negotiable)
- On-call: Yes, on-call required
- State License: Pending state license NOT accepted
Certifications & Licenses Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 6 months of start)
Note: Certifications cannot expire the same month as the start date; must be renewed prior.
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year background check (including SS trace, counties, nationwide, national sex offender, FACIS level 3, education verification)
- SAM, OIG, EPLS/GSA checks required
- Education verification:
- Bachelor’s degree required for permanent staff
- Associate’s degree acceptable for travel staff
- Primary source verification of state license
- NURSYS verification for RN licenses
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit Competency Exam
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test (TSPOT or QGOLD within 3 months) or 2-step PPD with chest X-ray if positive
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- TDAP or TD vaccine (or signed declination)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (deadline varies by season)
- COVID vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption (facility-specific forms required)
Additional Information
- Must complete facility-specific onboarding modules and training (including Culture of Safety Training, Confidentiality and Security Agreement, Property Acknowledgement, Tobacco-Free Workplace Agreement)
- Photo for badge required (forward-facing, plain background)
- Employment application and other facility-specific documents must be completed prior to start
