Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Peds Acute RN)
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, PM shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Start Date: ASAP
• First-timers: Not accepted (prior travel experience implied)
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Floating Requirements: Yes - must float to General Pediatrics Unit, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, NICU, PICU
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (12-hour shifts)

  • Dayshifts on Saturday & Sunday
  • Nightshift on Friday & Saturday
• On-call: Not required
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Certifications Required: BLS, PALS
• RTO (Request Time Off): Pre-approved time off at manager’s discretion; must be included at submission

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience
• Prior travel experience is required (first-timers not accepted)

Certifications & Competencies

• Mandatory Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Additional Certifications (as applicable):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor accepted
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias EKG Basic or Advanced depending on unit)
  • Color Blind Testing (annual)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Medication Calculation required for all RNs; EKG test required for cardiac monitoring units)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (fit testing provided onsite except at certain locations)
• TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (declination allowed)
• Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire annually
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (HBSAB titer)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccine required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed)
• COVID vaccination record preferred
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state restrictions)

Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• State license verification and NURSYS verification required
• 2 professional references required
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• Annual internal evaluation if employed for 1 year or more
• Facility-specific policies to review: Drug and Alcohol Free Policy, Hand Hygiene Policy, Dress and Appearance Policy
• EPIC Education Certificate of Completion required (approx. 8 hours of modules)
• HIPAA Education Certificate of Completion required before EPIC modules
• YouLearn Modules completion required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to float across multiple pediatric units including NICU and PICU
• Weekend and night shift availability required as specified
• Pre-approved time off must be requested at submission
• Facility uses EPIC for documentation; completion of EPIC training modules is mandatory before starting
• Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric RNs with travel contract experience who are comfortable working varied pediatric units and night/weekend shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
