Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Setting

  • Telemetry unit
  • Common diagnoses: CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • 36 rooms with an average daily census of 35
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: No holiday RTO will be approved
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required (degree verification can be pending at start with proof)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific conditions if prior positive)
  • TB Questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (boosters allowed post-start if eligible)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (boosters allowed post-start if eligible)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Flu vaccination or declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Notes

  • Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
