Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele Float

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
  • Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks from compliance completion
  • Shift Ratios:
    • Days and weekends: 1:5-6
    • Nights: 1:6
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule minimum (weekends = Saturday/Sunday), plus holiday rotation
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
    • Units include medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology
    • Float pool workers receive unit assignment up to 1 hour before shift start
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: No (75-mile radius rule)
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes, minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks
  • Special Requirements: Use of lift devices (training provided), ceiling lifts, bladder scanner

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM quarterly checks
  • HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • State-specific searches and highway patrol checks as required
  • Fingerprinting required for certain Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments

Licenses & Verifications

  • Primary source verification of professional license required
  • NURSYS verification required for Missouri licenses
  • Pending licenses accepted with approval
  • IV Certification required for LPNs/LVNs at Missouri facilities

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Skills & Competencies

  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually
  • Oncology competency exam required for Med Surg-Oncology unit
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start (Oncology/Infusion skills checklist for Med Surg-Oncology unit)

References & History

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Employment application required
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but not mandatory for clearance or extensions

  • Nurses will float between multiple units including medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology
  • Lift device training provided
  • No block scheduling available
  • Must adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements
  • Local candidates outside 75-mile radius not accepted

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are flexible in floating across various medical units and can meet certification and compliance requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
