Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Facility: Neuro ICU at a Magnet®-designated, top-ranked hospital
Job Details
- Shift: Evening/Night, 8 or 12-hour shifts (1900-0730 and 2300-0730)
- Schedule: Weekend rotation and some holiday requirements
- Unit: 18-bed critical care Neuro ICU specializing in critically ill adult patients with neuro diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, surgical resections, and trauma
- Care Focus: Hemodynamic monitoring, hypothermia, and specialized neuro critical care interventions
- Team Environment: Collaborative nurse-driven care with nationally certified physicians and interdisciplinary team
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment of 13 weeks (prior travel experience required)
- Experience with ICP or ventriculostomy preferred
- Epic electronic health record experience required (preferably within last 12 months)
- Basic arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS & ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
- Telemetry test pass required before starting
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit needs (e.g., PALS, NRP)
Additional Requirements
- Must live within 50 miles of the worksite
- Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
- Must complete facility-specific background checks and screenings, including Wisconsin Caregiver Screening
- Required to complete various competency exams and pass/fail telemetry testing annually
- Must comply with facility health requirements including immunizations, TB testing, drug screening, and flu vaccination or approved exemptions

Summary
This is a travel/contract RN position in a specialized Neuro ICU requiring strong critical care skills, prior acute care and travel experience, and proficiency with Epic and telemetry monitoring. The role demands flexibility with floating and weekend/holiday shifts, and compliance with rigorous licensure, certification, and health screening standards.
