Cath Lab Tech

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Roanoke, Virginia
• Day shift: 4x10s, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Up to 26 weeks available by request

Required Qualifications

• Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Virginia
• Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
• 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ARRT (R) or CCI RCIS
• Experience with Epic
• Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures, including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
• Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation
• Hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoro
• Sterile technique, EKG lead placement, rapid response protocols, isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
• Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called
• Must be available to work/take call one holiday per 13-week contract
• Does not accept first-time travelers
• Does not accept locals

Preferred Qualifications

• ARRT(R) Virginia state license preferred

Unit Details

• Adult patient population
• 6 procedure rooms
• Daily census of 15–20
• Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
• Advanced procedures include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, and research protocols
• Equipment includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS

Scheduling and Call

• Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts within every 6-week period
• One full weekend of call (Friday through Sunday) must be scheduled together
• Remaining weekday call shifts (Monday through Thursday) can be taken individually throughout the cycle
• One Saturday shift for elective cases is also required during each 6-week period
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

• The hospital is an acute care teaching hospital with over 700 licensed beds
• It is a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, and a certified stroke center
• The cath lab has American College of Cardiology accreditation for PCI procedures
