Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM / Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on inpatient oncology units with Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) experience required.
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum 2 years of oncology experience, including Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), with oncology experience within the last year.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS or ONCC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide databases, must be current within 30 days of start and renewed annually.
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript required.
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), negative dilute and instant/rapid tests not accepted, must be within 30 days of start and renewed every 2 years.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start with specific approved mask types; onsite fit testing available as last resort.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
- Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-Spot) with specific timing requirements, or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year)
- Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April)
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 1 year prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 12 months of start.
- Core training parts I, II, and III with passing scores of 80% or higher, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
- Pass/Fail Telemetry exam required on first day for nurses working in specified units (including ICU, ED, Cath Lab, PACU, etc.). Two attempts allowed; third attempt requires manager approval.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all RNs.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on first day of orientation.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required depending on unit.
- Annual Cyber Security Awareness Training and Quiz with passing score of 80% or above.
- Annual Tuberculosis Questionnaire required within 30 days of start or when TB documentation expires.
- Emergency contact information must be provided.
Notes
- Candidates must have completed references at time of submission.
- Candidates must be prepared for rotating day/night shifts and floating to other facilities.
