Job Opportunity: MS/Telemetry Registered Nurse

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a general medical-surgical unit including COVID, TB, and all negative pressure rooms.
• Patient ratio approximately 1:6.
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
• Weekend shifts required.
• Holiday coverage required for at least 2 of 3 major holidays.
• No on-call duties.
• Float requirement applies.
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Competencies & Certifications

• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually).
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually).
• Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) updated annually.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).
• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency).
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent).
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low.
  • Varicella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted.
• Employee appearance policy must be acknowledged.

Additional Information

• Return to Office (RTO) within 5 days or additional time added to contract end date.
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
• Must complete all required documentation and verifications within specified timeframes.

This position is ideal for experienced MS/Telemetry RNs comfortable with complex patient care, telemetry monitoring, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment with COVID and isolation precautions.
