Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Bend, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Day shift, 5x8 hours)
• Must be available to work major holidays (e.g., July 4th)
• Weekend work required
• On-call required
• No floating outside scope of practice
• Census: 33 days, 7 nights/weekends
• Locals not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
• Pending license accepted
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: 7 days

Required Experience & Skills

• Sterile Processing Technician (1 year of experience)
• Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
• One year or more of total travel experience
• Experience working with Evotech (ASP) systems
• Experience with Steris washers, ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves, ASP low temp NX100's, and SPM instrument tracking software
• Charting experience preferred with Epic

Required Certifications

• HSAP or CBSPD
• ACLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable) as required per unit
• BLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable) as required per unit
• PALS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable) as required per unit
• NRP as required per unit

Required Licenses

• Sterile Processing Technician license or certification as applicable (primary source verification required)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually, including:

  • SSN trace
  • Counties lived/worked/school
  • FACIS L3
  • DOJ sex offender search
  • Nationwide check
  • Highest level education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 90 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 90 days of start
• Diploma or transcript on file
• Photo for badge (passport-style, solid background) required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
• Facility-specific agreements and attestations must be signed and on file within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
• Negative TB test (QGold) within 1 year or negative chest X-ray for positive responders
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Positive titers or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
• Positive Hepatitis B titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted)
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (deadline December 1)
• COVID vaccine preferred but not required; declination or exemption required if never vaccinated
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exam as applicable by specialty
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam if applicable (specific to dialysis RNs, may not apply here)
• Annual skills checklist required

This position is ideal for experienced Sterile Processing Technicians with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical services environment with specialized equipment and software.
