Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Billings, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- Average patient load: 5-7 patients per day (geriatric cases)
- Territory coverage: Up to a 60-mile radius from the office, typically about 30 miles
- First-time travelers accepted
- Locals accepted at travel rate
- Dress code: Scrubs (any color), no jeans
- Documentation and communication must be timely
- iPad provided for work; cell phone use not allowed
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
- Flexibility with territory coverage expected
- Occasional weekend work may be required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Minimum 1 year of Home Health experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with OASIS
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background check required within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county searches (last 7 years), FACIS Level 1, nationwide sex offender, motor vehicle records, education and work history verification
- State-specific searches as applicable (e.g., Kentucky, Virginia, Indiana, New Hampshire, South Carolina)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
- Fingerprinting required for certain states (e.g., Connecticut, Ohio) with specific procedures and timelines
- Education verification of highest degree related to profession
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 90 days of start
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (updated annually)
- Agency background attestation required prior to start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months (physician statement)
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (series, titer, or declination)
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season (Aug-Nov)
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
Documentation and History
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps, including city and state of each location
- Work history verification for 7 years required within 90 days of start (3 attempts to verify required before attestation accepted)
- Two professional references required within 2 years of start (travel, allied, per diem acute care); one reference for per diem non-acute care
- Annual skills checklist required
Additional Requirements for Home Health Role
- Proof of current auto insurance required due to driving responsibilities
- Completion of facility-specific Acceptable Use Policy prior to start
- Facility-specific flu and COVID declination forms if applicable
- Compliance with all state-specific background and registry checks as required
