Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location

- 12-hour shifts, 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM
- Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Total hours per week: 36
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Radiology / Cardiology specialty
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment
Patient Population
- Preferred experience with Neonates, Infants, and Pediatrics
Unit Details
- Busy department with multiple shifts
- Coverage Mon-Thursday 24/7, Friday-Sunday with 12-hour day shifts
- Required skills include OB, breast, vascular, general abdomen, GYN, and vascular background for DVT studies
Equipment
- Preferred experience with Samsung ultrasound equipment
Required Certifications
Requirements/Qualifications
- Ultrasound Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
- Recent ultrasound technologist experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ARDMS certification
- Proficient in multifaceted ultrasound scanning including OB, breast, vascular, general abdomen, and GYN
Skills and Procedures
- Adult and Pediatric imaging including Emergency Department and portable exams
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) proficiency
- Imaging of abdominal aorta, appendix, breast, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen
- Obstetrical imaging: 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester, fetal anatomical survey
- Pelvic imaging: bladder, hernia, ovaries, uterus, vaginal
- Male reproductive imaging: prostate, testicles/scrotum
- Thyroid and carotid Doppler studies
- Vascular studies: lower and upper extremity venous, peripheral vascular resistance
- Breast cyst aspiration and superficial masses
Licensure
- Must hold a valid New York State Radiology/Ultrasound Tech license and ARDMS credentials as applicable
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check including all aliases, national/state/county checks, sex offender registry, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification from registrar’s office (transcripts/diplomas not accepted)
- Online tech certification verification within 30 days of start
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- Harassment prevention training certificate (annual requirement)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession
- Color blindness testing (one-time)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for all candidates except certain specialties)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Facility-specific policy reviews and attestations prior to start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required; PAPR exemption available if fit test failed)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years (TD alone not accepted)
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year; if positive, negative chest X-ray within 10 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity via positive titer or vaccination (age exemption if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity via positive titer, vaccination, or documented history
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panels required; instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (documentation deadline applies)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start (not required annually)
Documentation and Verification
- Two professional references required
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
- 7-year work history verification (attestation letter accepted as last resort)
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of facility-specific patient confidentiality, sexual harassment prevention, patient experience training, and other required modules prior to start
