Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Evenings, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (4:00 PM – 12:30 AM)
- Weekend Work: Every other weekend (6 weekends over 3 months), with ability to pick up extra shifts
- Float: May be required to float to a nearby campus as needed
- Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center with 426 staffed beds
- Charting System: EPIC
- Uniform: Navy blue scrub color
- Parking: Free parking available
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in Connecticut
- Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT Radiography (R) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC only)
- X-Ray Technician experience
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching legal name for identity verification
- 7-year criminal background check (including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national sex offender, federal, and national criminal checks) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates
- Verification of highest level of education (official transcripts may be required)
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for X-Ray Techs and related units, updated if there is a 30-day gap between assignments
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred; clean-shaven required)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers are low
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, proof of vaccine series, or declination within 1 year
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history; boosters required if low titer
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor and delivery, postpartum (declination accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September 1 – March 31); declinations not allowed
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Training and Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 12 months, minimum 85% score
- Color blind testing required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024, minimum 80% score
- EPIC testing or training (optional but highly encouraged)
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (exceptions apply)
- Stroke Education (exceptions apply)
- CLABSI Prevention Training (exceptions apply)
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training (exceptions apply)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education (exceptions apply)
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (exceptions apply)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (exceptions apply)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (exceptions apply)
- AME Blood Administration Module (exceptions apply)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for X-Ray Techs)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
