Job Opportunity: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Utica, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Primarily assigned to Maternity (Mother-Baby) unit
• May float to NICU if needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 5 years of Post Partum nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form (required before start)
• Background checks including 7-year work/living history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG (updated annually)
• Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN/LPN staff)
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement, annual)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start and updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (specific testing requirements apply)
• Immunization or proof of immunity for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
• Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• Two professional references from travel, allied, or per diem acute care within 3 years of start

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Color blindness test (one-time, prior to start)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required if working in ICU, PCU, ER, or similar units; expires every 3 years)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift
• Signed facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment
• Photo for badge (headshot on plain background, no head coverings or informal poses)
• Signed Omnicell form (for nursing staff)
• Pneumococcal declination form if declining vaccine

Additional Notes

• Local radius for travel is 75 miles; local travelers accepted
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
