Job Details

  • Floating: Required to float between like units
  • Block Scheduling: Accommodated per unit needs

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once every two weeks

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM)

Licensure

  • Valid California RN license required
  • NURSYS verification required
  • State-specific license verifications as applicable

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • Drug screening: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination (required if onsite)
  • Fit mask test required (updated annually) for travel candidates
  • Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates (annual)

Training and Competency

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Competency exams required by specialty/unit
  • Color blind testing if required by unit
  • Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start
  • Providence WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional) required based on facility and specialty
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission
  • Facility uses solid royal blue scrubs for RNs
  • No locals accepted for this travel assignment
  • Floating may require travel to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
