Job Description

• Position is in an area commonly impacted by hurricanes (June 1 - Nov 30 is hurricane season, but storms can occur outside this window).
• Upon starting, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay at the facility during storms or be part of relief efforts.
• Candidates should be comfortable with hurricane-related emergency assignments.
• Primarily outpatient setting with occasional inpatient flexibility.
• Typical patient visits: 10 per day.
• Shift hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
• Scrub color: Maroon/Wine/Burgundy.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year in general orthopedics, neurology, disability, or generalized weakness.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted. Must be current at start.
  • Louisiana State License required.
• Additional Certifications: Check unit-specific requirements; some may require ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, or others depending on specialty/unit.

Important Notes

• Must have a current/valid driver's license or government photo ID (color copy required).
• Background check and various verifications (license, certifications, employment history) required within 30 days of start.
• Health documents required include:

  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 60 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
• Fit mask testing (N95) required within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
• COVID-19 medical or religious exemptions require facility-specific forms.
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with emergency preparedness protocols during hurricane season.
