Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• 24/7 phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and supervisor support available on all units
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off (36/36 schedule)
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No on-call required
• Floating between units required
• Hybrid unit requiring previous Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Accepts first-time travelers with Level 1 trauma experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Previous Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience

Orientation & Scheduling

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online computer-based learning)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be flexed based on census without penalty

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Respirator medical clearance and fit mask testing completed onsite
• Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
• Compliance with dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted with trauma experience
• Floating between units is required
