Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical LVN / LPN (Travel/Contract)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:7 (team nursing with support from PCC, RN, etc.)

Job Description

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center with short-term acute care patients.
• Must be IV certified (firm requirement).
• On-call and weekend shifts required as needed.
• No local candidates accepted (strict 100-mile radius rule).
• No block scheduling except possible weekend blocks.
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 3+ years recent experience.
• Level I Trauma experience required.
• Large hospital experience required.
• Prior travel experience required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in Tennessee.
• Minimum 1 year of Long Term Care experience, including experience within the last year.
• One completed travel assignment.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• IV certification.
• Experience working with Level I Trauma patients.
• Large hospital experience.
• Medical Surgical experience.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC).
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC preferred but not required).
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests must be current (within 1 year).
• Fit mask test (3M N-95 1860 or 1870+), passed within 1 year, required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands within 1 year.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (3-shot series, positive titer, or signed declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30).
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.

Documentation & Compliance

• Two recent professional references required.
• Background checks including statewide, county, federal, education verification, sex offender search, and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry (for TN candidates).
• Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, recent within 6 months).
• Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start.
• Submission packet includes application, references, skills checklist, and license verification.
• Onsite fit test and questionnaires may be required before start.

Additional Notes

• No submission to multiple job IDs/facilities allowed; candidates must select one.
• Candidates must be fully compliant with all credentialing and documentation before start.
• Facility enforces strict dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidery, business casual with lab coat for case managers.
• Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed.
• Start date: ASAP.

This position is ideal for experienced LVN / LPN professionals with recent medical-surgical and trauma experience who have prior travel contract experience and are ready to work nights in a high-acuity, large hospital setting.
