Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• Weekend option, dayshift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• No on-call required

Unit & Patient Population

• Float ability required between OR suites
• Procedures include: orthopedic, neuro, neuro-spine, vascular, endovascular, ENT, radical neck, urology, trauma, transplant, general surgery, plastic surgery, Whipple, and complex surgical cases
• Shift is heavy on neuro and trauma cases

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Float ability between OR suites

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)

Experience Requirements

• Accepts first-time travelers with required experience and skills
• Prior travel experience is not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search
• Primary source license verification prior to start
• NURSYS verification prior to start
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
• TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
• Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (or declination) as per standard requirements
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
• COVID vaccine series preferred
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing (fit testing completed onsite during orientation)
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background)
• Completion of facility-specific confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct agreements prior to start
• Completion of required orientation modules and post-start orientation checklists
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Fit testing is mandatory and must be completed onsite during the first week of orientation; failure to submit fit test results within two weeks may result in removal from assignment
• No PAPR/CAPR respirators provided or accepted at this facility; candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Candidates must complete all required training modules assigned based on unit/position, updated annually
• Post-start orientation checklists must be completed and submitted within the first week of assignment
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams and other competency exams are not required by the facility but may be required by the staffing agency
• References and skills checklists are required for new candidates

This position offers a challenging and diverse surgical caseload in a high-acuity OR setting with a supportive environment for both new and experienced travel nurses.
