Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Average patient visits per day: 210
• Every other weekend coverage required (4 weekend shifts per contract)
• Support roles: Patient Care Technician (PCT) and Medic
• Work environment: Large, urban, fast-paced Emergency Department with significant volume
• Experience with ventilated patients required
• Level 1 trauma experience preferred
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC required
• No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Local candidates not considered

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • De-escalation certification such as CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• Experience with ventilated patients
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Current driver’s license or state ID with correct name and address
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year history including Pima County, AZ
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
• State RN license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
• Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR allowed onsite)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain units)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
  • Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
• Drug testing: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) with facility-specific exemption form
• Employment application with last 7 years of work history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references from employment within last 3 years, including one supervisory reference
• Annual skills checklist update

Orientation & Training

• Orientation held twice monthly
• Orientation sign-off required for all RNs
• Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing required for certain units (e.g., Pediatric ER, Telemetry, Observation, Ortho, Women’s, PICU)
• Facility-specific job description required

Additional Notes

• Must have experience in a large, urban, high-volume ED setting
• Prior travel experience required; no first-time travelers accepted
• Must be able to work every other weekend with 4 weekend shifts per contract
• Must support PCT and Medic staff as part of the team
