NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Level II NICU admissions and normal newborns (32 weeks gestation or greater)
- Attend vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including high-risk deliveries
- Care includes CPAP/BiPAP, feeding tubes, syringe pumps
- NICU nurses are not expected to care for mother-baby couplets unless already competent
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with NICU experience within the last year
- Completion of Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington State (compact license accepted)
- NURSYS verification required
Additional Requirements
- Float to other units/facilities as needed (float pool required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required annually for travel nurses
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer/declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable with attestation)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- WA State Patrol Search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for applicable settings
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Competencies & Training
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exams, including fetal heart rate monitoring assessment if EFM certification not held
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic training modules completion required within orientation week (if applicable)
Notes
- Previous permanent employees of any affiliated facility must have a minimum 3-month separation before qualifying for this travel position
- Active compact license holders are honored at all facilities in the system
- Background checks and other verifications may have specific regional or facility requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
