Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics

Job Summary

• Provide basic and critical respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients.
• Work independently and supervise others as delegated.
• Deliver respiratory care for patients with respiratory diseases as ordered by physicians.
• Complete documentation including electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charges.
• Perform pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas draws, ventilator care, and assist with bronchoscopies and special procedures.
• Participate in training and supervision of new employees.
• Maintain respiratory therapy equipment and ensure compliance with ventilator care bundles.
• Educate patients and families about cardio-respiratory diseases and rehabilitation.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
• Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Essential Functions

• Assess and document appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies.
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy.
• Provide care to ventilated patients and ensure compliance with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) prevention bundles.
• Assist in cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and patient/family education.
• Maintain and prepare respiratory therapy equipment.
• Serve as a technical resource to physicians and hospital staff.
• Assist with quality control, staff scheduling, and competency assessments.

Compliance & Requirements

• Must have current picture identification.
• Background check covering the last 7 years required.
• Drug testing required within 30 days before start.
• Physical exam required within 90 days before start.
• N95 fit test preferred; PAPR documentation if applicable.
• Immunizations and/or titers required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or positive titer)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination)
  • Influenza vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual competency exams and certifications as required.
• Completion of facility-specific safety and compliance training.
• Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
• Complete employment application with 7-year work history.
