Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Oncology
Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 36/36 (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Every other weekend required
- No call shifts
- Floating to other units as needed
- Travelers do not administer chemotherapy
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional shifts beyond commitment may be flexed or canceled based on census without penalty
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) required
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical Oncology, including oncology experience
- Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) highly preferred for ER candidates (not required)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Background checks including education verification, adult abuse registry (if licensed in TN), EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Respirator medical clearance and fit testing completed onsite
Additional Notes
- Candidate must comply with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies
- Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start date (not required annually)
- Must complete various facility-specific forms and acknowledgements in a timely manner
- References: 2 preferred, 3 ideal
