Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• MedSurg RN; Every Other Week (EOW) schedule
• Float position with possible Charge Nurse duties as needed
• Option for 4x12 hour shifts
• ASAP start preferred
• Patient population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:6
• Skills required: IV starts, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred
• 30-minute lunch break required, no skipped meals
• Local candidates considered within a 60-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Med Surg experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Education verification (transcript, diploma, or third-party verification) required
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Skills checklist required annually

• Candidates must review and sign the traveler attendance policy prior to start
• No skipped meals allowed during shifts
• Local candidates within 60 miles considered

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs who are comfortable with float assignments, have trauma experience, and are interested in travel contract work with a flexible schedule option.
