Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a Medical Surgical ICU setting for adult to geriatric patients with complex critical care diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, GI bleed, DKA, acute kidney disease, complicated surgeries, pulmonary embolism, drug overdose, hypertensive emergencies, cardiac arrhythmias, and more.

- Medical Surgical ICU
- 15 beds, average daily census of 12
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
- Electronic Medical Record system: Epic (required)
- Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Weekends: Every other weekend unless otherwise specified
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year, specifically in a Medical Surgical ICU
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience caring for adult to geriatric patient populations
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system
Skills & Procedures
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, GI bleed, DKA, acute kidney disease, pulmonary embolism, drug overdose, hypertensive emergencies, cardiac arrhythmias, rhabdomyolysis, metabolic encephalopathy, malignant neoplasms
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
- Chest tubes, bronchoscopies, lumbar punctures, incision & drainage (I&D)
- Central line insertion assistance and maintenance of central and arterial lines
- Peritoneal dialysis
- Continuous bladder irrigations
- Continuous IV infusions including pressors, paralytics, sedatives, cardiac medications
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time
- Orientation hours vary by contract length
- Background checks, education verification, and licensure must be completed prior to start
- Drug screening and health documents required (see below)
Required Licenses & Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of nursing degree (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health requirements including:
- TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or signed declination (seasonal)
- Tdap recommended but not required
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU and related specialties
- Color blindness test required
Additional Notes
- Floating within the facility may be required
- Candidates must adhere to dress and professional appearance policies
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending at start with proof)
