Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Preferred candidate: Cath Lab Tech with coronary and interventional radiology (IR) experience.
- Work schedule includes weekend coverage every 5-6 weeks (5-6 weekend shifts per contract) and weeknight on-call coverage 1 day per week (5:30 PM - 7:00 AM).
- Call coverage includes Stroke & STEMI cases (Cath Lab & IR).
- Typical daily case volume: 20-35 cases.
- Shift hours: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (3x12 hour shifts may be considered).
- No first-time travelers unless extensive background and cath lab experience.
- Experience with Impella, balloon pump, PCI, stents, pacemaker, catheterization, and rotablader required.
- Experience with EKG settings and 12-lead EKG & rhythm interpretation required.
- Facility has multiple cath lab rooms including interventional radiology, electrophysiology (EP), hybrid suites, and cath rooms.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred.
- No local candidates considered.
Required Qualifications
- Cath Lab Radiology Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Cath Lab Radiology Technologist experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- ARRT or RCIS certification.
- Experience with Impella.
- Experience with balloon pump.
- Experience with PCI.
- Experience with stents.
- Experience with pacemaker.
- Experience with catheterization.
- Experience with rotablader.
- Cath Lab Technologist experience.
- Interventional Radiology Technologist experience.
Orientation
- Orientation held twice monthly.
Additional Requirements
- Weekend and night call coverage as described.
- Must pass background checks and drug testing within specified timeframes.
- Must provide current driver’s license/state ID.
- Must complete required health documents including physical exam, immunizations, and fit testing.
- Must provide 2 professional references from employment within the last 3 years (one must be supervisory).
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and up to date.
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication competency may be required.
- Compliance with facility-specific policies including flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (mandatory)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (declinations allowed with form)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced cath lab environment with a high volume of cases.
- Weekend and night call coverage is mandatory.
- Extensive cath lab and interventional radiology experience is essential.
- No local candidates or first-time travelers without significant cath lab experience will be considered.
