Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 26 weeks)

Job Description

As an Emergency Department Nurse, you will provide care to patients with urgent or critical illnesses, as well as those seeking non-urgent treatment. Responsibilities include triaging patients, ongoing assessment, immediate interventions, and discharge teaching. You will care for a diverse patient population including prenatal, neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, and collaborate on an interdisciplinary level.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Home Health experience within the last year
• Emergency Department (ED) experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification

Schedule

• Every other weekend

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Submission of a current color photo (headshot, no filters, plain background)
• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or immunity proof
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if break >6 months
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity (strongly preferred)
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year of start date
  • Tdap vaccination within 10 years (preferred)
• Criminal background checks including:

  • National and Massachusetts CORI background checks within 30-45 days of start date and updated if break >6 months
  • Social Security Number trace for last 7 years
  • Exclusion checks against federal and state lists
• Verification of education and professional licenses
• Submission of a detailed resume covering the last 7 years of work experience
• Two professional references, including at least one supervisor-level reference within the last 4 years
• Completion of a skills checklist within 1 year of submission
• Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for any extensions

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• All certifications must be current and from accepted organizations (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military).
• Fit testing cannot be performed onsite; must be completed prior to start or at designated locations if extending assignment.
• CPI/MOAB training must include hands-on components and de-escalation techniques for violent patients; may be completed onsite within 30 days if necessary.
