Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Nashville, Tennessee

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: December 8 (Non-negotiable)
Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week


Job Details

  • Position requires floating between units and facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity.
  • Travelers will be notified before their scheduled shift if floating is required.

Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

  • Nursys License Verification: Must be verified within 30 days prior to start.
  • Current Nursing License: Primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • BLS (AHA): Required prior to onboarding.
  • ACLS (AHA): Required prior to onboarding.
  • NIH Certification: Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years.
  • Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current, match address on file, and show front/back.
  • 2 Professional References: Required prior to first assignment.

Health & Immunizations

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Required with specific timing; annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended).
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter; includes 12 specified substances.

Testing & Competencies

  • Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of 80% required; two attempts allowed.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.

Onboarding & Documentation

  • Ascension Resume/Profile: Required for submission.
  • Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations.
  • Ascension Onboarding Education Attestation: Completion of pre-hire 6-hour module required.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Completed onsite.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip: Pre-hire modules required for non-allied positions.
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check: Includes SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually or after break in service >90 days.
  • Ascension EPLS Check: Must be run within 90 days of start and rerun if break in service >90 days.
  • Ascension Education Verification: Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; updated if break in service >90 days.
  • Ascension Employment Verification: Verification of employment for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service >90 days.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment: Provided upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.

Optional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist: Optional for onboarding; uploaded by unit leader within a week.
  • Positive PPD Documentation: Optional but recommended for those with positive TB tests.
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation: Post-assignment evaluation.
  • Name Change Documentation: Legal documentation if applicable.

This position requires thorough credentialing and compliance with health and safety standards prior to and during the assignment. Floating flexibility and adherence to Ascension Health policies are essential.
