Registered Nurse – Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour night shifts)
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday

Unit Information

• 44-bed Intermediate Cardiac Stepdown Unit (PCU/Telemetry)
• Fast-paced with high patient turnover
• Patient types include post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular surgery, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer/defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, med/surg overflow (detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, fem-pop bypass)
• Typical patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Low census hours may be assigned in increments (4 or 8 hours), not considered on-call

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC)
• Must pass EKG test during first week of hire
• Minimum 1 year strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU)
• Minimum 2 years experience in IMC/PCU/Telemetry
• Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips required
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment completed (prior travel experience required)
• Minimum 1 year recent EPIC charting experience

Additional Information

• Contractors must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed
• During flu season, travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
• Candidates should be resilient, able to manage change, work independently, and complete tasks timely
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
