Step Down Unit Registered Nurse

Role

• Step Down Unit Registered Nurse
• Travel assignment
• Primary location: Gateway

Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Will accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY)
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years RN experience
• 1 full year of stepdown experience
• 1 travel assignment
• Trauma level II experience
• Recent EPIC experience
• Must pass tele tests
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Initiate/titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin
• Post surgical assessment/care
• NIHSS/Neuro assessments/dysphagia screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Stable home vents
• PleurX drain/pericardial drains
• Lumber drains
• VP shunts
• Narcan drips

Unit Details

• 16 beds
• Day ratio: 1:3-4
• Night ratio: 1:3-4
• M/S ratio: 1:5
• CN patient assignment: 1:2

Additional Notes

• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Clinical interview
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting of students and new-hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
