Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM or 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend, with occasional additional shifts required
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Level III high-risk NICU with 27 beds.
• Care for neonatal patients including those requiring continuous, intermediate, intensive, and multi-system support care following AWHONN/NANN guidelines.
• Float occasionally to Mother-Baby or Labor & Delivery units to care for newborns and well babies.
• Must be able to work independently, multi-task, and demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with ventilators and central lines is required.
• Expected to work every third weekend and holidays, with potential for additional shifts as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
• Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%.
• Valid driver’s license required at time of application.
• Must comply with facility policies including prohibition of artificial nails in patient care areas.

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy scrubs.
• Facility follows strict radius rules restricting candidates who work within 50 miles at certain affiliated facilities.
• The NICU is supported by a multidisciplinary team including OB/GYN, Family Practice, Nurse Midwives, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Neonatology experts, and 24/7 anesthesiology access.
• Neonatal transport services are available.
