Orthopedic RN Opportunity - Peoria, Illinois

Position Details

• Unit Size: 43 beds, all private rooms
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (3-12s), including weekend and holiday rotation
• Schedule:

  • Day shift nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • Night shift nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • Patient Care Tech ratio: 1:7-8
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (day shift on Sat/Sun, night shift on Fri/Sat)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Patient Population & Care

• Wide variety of medical-surgical patients
• Postoperative orthopedic cases
• Trauma cases with fractures

Requirements & Certifications

• Active Illinois nursing license or proof of application initiation
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 1-2 years clinical experience preferred, especially in postop surgical and general med-surg care
• Must pass a drug screen (drug-free campus policy)
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and middle initial for submission

Orientation & Training

• 12 non-billable orientation hours guaranteed
• Two unit/department-specific orientation sessions

Staffing & Support

• Primary charge RN on each shift who also takes patient assignments
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Patient Care Techs assist with care
• Telemetry monitors (Phillips) with house-wide telemetry pack monitors; RNs do not read their own strips
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and heated high flow; RNs troubleshoot as needed

Additional Information

• Travel RNs are first to float if needed, usually to similar MedSurg floors
• No call or standby requirements
• Dress code: Any color scrubs allowed, professional appearance required; tattoos and piercings must be covered
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius

Policies

• Call-off policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty or pay requirement
• Drug-free campus compliance required
