• Unit: L&D
• Beds: 17 L&D beds
• C-section support: 2 OR suites on the unit for C-sections
• Triage: 4 triage beds
• Postpartum: 16 postpartum beds
• Volume: 250 births monthly
• Patient population: Level 3 high-risk facility

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), NRP
• Experience/skills: Must be independent and confident with vaginal exams, internal monitor placement, high-risk laboring/delivery patients, and antepartum patients
• Drips: Required to titrate drips
• License/credential: RN
• EMR/system experience: Cerner experience required

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holidays as needed
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• Floats to postpartum as needed
• Floats to other units as needed
• First to float

Additional Details

• Uses AWHONN ratios: 2:1 for normal laboring moms, 1:1 for high-risk labors, 4:1 couplet care, and 2:1–4:1 antepartum depending on acuity
• Nurses circulate and recover their own C-section patients
• OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7
• Anesthesia in house 24/7
• No tele techs on the unit
• Orientation is 3 days for travelers
• Navy blue scrubs; light blue OR scrubs available for nurse use
