Pathology Assistant

Overview

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Department: Anatomic Pathology Gross Room
May work at one of three gross room locations: Main Ruby, Children's, or Innovation Corp
Start time may vary between 0730 and 0900

Required Qualifications

ASCP Certification as Pathologists' Assistant
Bachelor's degree
1 year of experience in the specialty

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a Pathologists' Assistant program
Experience in an academic medical center
Experience with Epic Beaker AP and voice recognition program

Job Duties

Gross simple and complex tissue specimens
Handle and cut frozens, about 5-10 per day

Phlebotomy: No
Weekend requirements: No

Call or standby call: No
Hospital scrubs are provided
Training will be provided by current PAs
Average census: 160 cases/day and about 700 blocks/day
Case mix: approximately 60% smalls, 20% biopsies/moderate, 20% complex
