Sonographer Position – Illinois

Job Details

• Location: Kankakee, Illinois
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 4 ten-hour shifts per week (40 hours total)
• Weekend Requirement: Approximately every 7th-8th weekend; on-call weekends 2-3 times per contract
• Call Requirement: On call one day a week (4:30 PM – 6:00 AM), including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when on call
• Orientation: 1 week of unit/department-specific orientation
• Dress Code: Cath lab scrubs provided; black scrubs also allowed

Department & Work Environment

• Echo/Cardiac Sonographer department with 3 outpatient echo rooms, 4 stress rooms, 2 procedural rooms, and 1 inpatient room near ICU
• Responsible for both inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) echo tech duties
• Equipment used includes Philips Epiq 7C and GE machines
• Documentation in Epic; imaging stored in Change Healthcare CPACS
• Supervision by a Site Supervisor and Team Lead/Lead Echo Tech present on every shift

Job Duties & Imaging Studies

• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) complete and limited, pediatric TTEs, dobutamine stress echocardiograms (DSE), stress echocardiograms (SE), and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
• Follow ICAL accredited protocols for inpatient and outpatient TTE
• Average workload: approximately 8 studies per day
• Ability to start IVs preferred but not required

Required Qualifications

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification required
• Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDS) certification acceptable if registered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Valid driver’s license required
