Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Location: Renton, Washington
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, approximately 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Holiday Requirement: Not specified
Call/Standby Requirement: None for travel RNs
Floating: Required to float to postpartum unit as needed
Job Description
Seeking experienced Labor & Delivery RNs for night shift. Candidates must have OR circulating experience and a minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, preferably at a high-risk, Level 3 facility.
Unit Details
- 11 Labor & Delivery beds
- 2 OR suites
- 4 triage beds
- 25 postpartum beds
- Approximately 220 births per month
- OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia available in-house 24/7
- 2 surgical techs available 24/7; LPN coverage on nights and days
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: Obix
- No respiratory therapy equipment on unit
- No telemetry or monitor techs; RNs read strips
Required Certifications
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required beginning January 2023)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience with triage experience
- OR circulating experience required
- EPIC electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years (nursing school experience does not count)
- Ability to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Insulin
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Active labor
- Postpartum care
- Gestational hypertension
- Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
Additional Notes
- Must not have any license issues related to medication diversion or endangerment; such issues will result in immediate contract cancellation
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; hospital provides jackets and scrubs for L&D nurses
Required Qualifications Summary
- Registered Nurse license in Washington
- 2+ years Labor & Delivery experience (higher of specialty experience requirements)
- Current NRP, BLS, and ACLS certifications
- EPIC experience within last 2 years
- OR circulating experience
- Ability to titrate drips as specified
- No history of license issues related to medication diversion or endangerment
This position is ideal for experienced L&D nurses comfortable with high-acuity patients and working night shifts in a busy, high-risk environment.
